Where do we operate?
Jonginenge is fully mobile. We are based at Nahoon Beach in the Nahoon Point and Estuary Nature Reserve, and we also partner with local resorts for 2–3 day school camps. We can accommodate up to a whole grade at a time.

Sand sculptures, introduction to rock pool sea creatures, sand boarding, beach treasure and shell collection, beach art (plaster footprint and sand sculpture), spatial awareness game, climbing the tallest dune to spot whales, dolphins and ships, and plastic pollution — why and how we can reduce it.
A canoe ride on the river with lifeguards, sun and beach safety, the sandy beach cleanup squad, pollution story cards, beach art, the estuary food web, shell pictographs and a swim in the river.
Explore rock pools, snorkel in Mermaid's Pool, boogie board, learn about the marine food chain and adaptations to life in rock pools, and collect shells.
Learn to surf, sandboard, build 3D beach maps, and learn about dune plants and the sandy beach ecosystem, plastic pollution in the marine food chain, lifesaving and beach safety.
Discover the Sardine Run — the "Greatest Shoal on Earth" — brave the fear factor sardine challenge, use a compass to find your way, learn to escape the grip of a rip, surf and/or boogie board, and solve sea creature conundrums.
Hike through coastal forest and sandstone coves to the Secret Beach. Discover shell middens, ancient fossil footprints and the way of life of the San or "Strandlopers". Visit the Nahoon Point Lighthouse, look over the sewage treatment facility, learn about endemic and endangered animals and sources of pollution — plus a swim, surf or boogie board.
Visit the Dassie Trail Nature Reserve to learn about biodiversity, invertebrates in the mud flats, bird adaptations, fish in the estuary, the mangrove ecosystem, medicinal plants and the biggest threats to estuarine wetlands — and enjoy a canoe trail on the Nahoon River.
A detailed hands-on rock pool study on a spring low tide, classifying species into vertebrates and invertebrates, with the option of snorkelling, surfing, boogie boarding or canoeing. Covers adaptations of birds, invertebrates and fish, Marine Protected Areas and major threats to coastlines.
High school
In the Nahoon Point Nature Reserve: coastal landforms, erosion processes, pollution and human waste management. Can include a water activity and/or navigation using handheld compass, Google Earth or aerial photographs.
Study the biodiversity of the estuary and/or rocky shore: classification, adaptations to habitat and diet, symbiotic relationships, useful and medicinal plants, endangered species, sustainable use of resources — and paddling canoes on the estuary.
For the future leaders. An activity circuit of 8 or 9 team challenges requiring communication, shared problem solving and team work, with an important leadership lesson from each. Whole grade at one time.

A tailor-made excursion to meet your specific requirements and learning objectives. Learners explore beaches, forests and rivers while canoeing, surfing, sand boarding, boogie boarding, snorkelling or hiking.
Jonginenge are team building experts too. We facilitate staff team building for teaching and support staff, with a number of exciting options to choose from.
Safety first
Jonginenge takes very seriously our responsibility for the safety of the people who participate in our adventures. Our team is made up of a qualified teacher, lifeguards, surf instructors and Jonginenge guides with level 3 first aid training. We provide a professional service which enables teachers to arrange safe outdoor education excursions.

We issue an invoice based on the number of learners and the duration of your outing.
A 50% deposit secures your booking; the balance is settled after the outing.
Once confirmed, we send a letter for parents and an indemnity form to complete — part of our safety protocols.
