Grade 4: Beach Activity day & sardine
run (Nahoon Lifesavers Club)
This option involves learners in a
circuit with 5 different activities, which they rotate around
in small groups. These include map work in the form of a treasure
hunt, learning about and building 3-D models of rip currents
in the sand, climbing wall and surfing.
Learners will also be involved in practical
tasks such as building their own food chains with laminated
colour picture cards. The “fear factor” style
sardine run game is always a hit.
The Sardine Run occurs during the winter
months and is known as the largest and most spectacular moving
food chain on Earth as diving birds, huge pods of dolphins
and whales can often be seen from the shore.
